Bobo hopped into Liz Quah's blog and saw this entry...

What's worth doing when you travel to Singapore as a family holiday maker with kids...

It was written by a Jaffa Matt and it gives the low down of all the tourist attractions like Sentosa, the Singapore Zoo, the Night Safari, Wild Wild Wet, etc... the usual tourist attractions...

Bobo was thinking to herself... yes those are pretty interesting places, highly educational for kids... but they're really expensive. Moreover they don't really show the most important characteristic of Singapore. If Bobo had friends coming to Singapore, she'll not only show them those... but she'll bring them to these...

1) Little India

And YES Bobo will bring on a SUNDAY... Then her friends can walk on the roads without worrying about the cars, shop and buy cheap saris or punjabi suits, get garlands custom made for them, have henna done on their hands and feet. They can have paper thosai and curries.

better still if it were near Deepavali. They can watch the fire-walking cermony, see the beautifully lighted streets and all the people decked in their best clothing. There'll also be plenty of good buys and such.

2) Geylang Serai
On normal days Bobo thinks that there isn't really much. But during the period of Ramadan, in preparation for Hari Raya, the huge market that opens up is really a nice place to go. (Like now...) Can get all the Ramly burgers... haha and plenty of kebayas going cheap. :)

3) Chinatown
One of Bobo's favourite places. Because it's here that they sell materials for Bobo to make stuff for her blogshop!

4) HDB flat (someone's place for dinner)
Honestly, Bobo's quite proud of Singapore's flats. They are generally well-maintained and they go through upgrading. In many bustling cities around the world, their apartments could be dingy and full of rubbish. The conditions could be original cement/concrete which looks unfinished... Bobo thinks that this will be a nice insight to Singapore lives for visitors.

5) Changi Village
TO HAVE CHICKEN CHOP NOODLES AND RED TEA LOGAN!

6) A Yacht cruise off Sentosa
It's really beautiful you know. 1 Degree 15 is the new yacht club at Sentosa... well not really new but it's not fully complete yet. But it's really beautiful with great scenery. :) They don't have yachts for rent yet but if you called they could liaise with private yacht owners to bring you out to sea. The other Marina would be Raffles Marina at Tuas. that one's nice too!

A day of fishing, suntanning, scuba diving... :)

7) Harvesting sea creatures at Pasir Ris Beach (low tide)
:) Bobo thinks that one of the greatest things about Singapore is its tropical climate. :) all the mangrove has plenty of little things which children would love to see too! highly educational too.

8) Geylang to have durians
YUMMY and a chance to see our red-light district. Maybe not so for the children but then... our Geylang's pretty harmless compared to those in other countries....

9) Pulau Ubin
A mini hike? Fishing? or even book a chalet there! :) Bobo used to go and draw there. It was fun really!

10) The Esplanade (for a performance/ musical)
Or better yet... something from our local arts scene... musicians or comedians... :)

Of cos there's the usual shopping... needless to say... :P
