"So, would you rather owe a stranger money, or owe the bus company money?"
Personally, Bobo would probably just walk. She walks home from work... about 3km+ away every other day and she has done the 10km walk back from the city centre before. Since she rarely goes to the other end of Singapore, she can safely say she will survive walking home.
In her comment to CC, she mentioned this particular incident....
"I saw this boy getting up the bus. He put his EZ link card to the machine and there wasn't enough credit in the card. He tried again and still not enough. He started to panic a bit and dig for coins. But all that he had was just 20 cents. Then the bus driver started scolding him, shouting at him to get off the bus. But the boy said he lived quite far away and me knowing the place well I know he couldn't walk home... So I went up and paid for him."
Bobo cannot just let the boy walk home like that with his schoolbag. He was in Primary school and it could turn dark before he got home, provided he knew the way home in the first place. If he decided to take any short cut along the way he could get lost.
Just the other day, some blur tourists (there are many where Bobo lives) were trying to getting up the bus. Bobo gets amused by these tourists. She doesn't mean any harm but it's quite funny sometimes. Anyway these three Caucasians were trying to get up the bus. They had a hard time getting the bus driver to understand where they were headed. Then when they finally did and the bus driver told them the amount they had to pay they started to dig for coins... They couldn't seem to count the right number of coins.. and simply didn't have enough.
Bobo to save the day! She *giggling* went up, paid for them and also showed them where to alight. :) Bobo thinks if she were caught in this situation out there one day she does hope that someone would help. Would you?
