All About Bobo's Contractor

Looking for the right person to do your renovation is the biggest headache one can ever imagine. Bobo really went through the hassle of sourcing for quotations from 20+ IDs and contractors. At first Bobo and family were so determined to save and they only had the entire flooring and the kitchen makeover on their list of things to do. But even so, they received quotations up to 45k. It was very demoralising indeed. Some IDs (Interior Designers) were very mean and gave very condescending looks and questions.

Aside from that, while sourcing, Bobo got to know about all the IDs who ran away with people's money, contractors who got overly creative and decided to do the house their own way, IDs who were very calculative.... It was a nightmare.

But all was solved when Bobo got to know about Uncle Soon from Native02. Bobo joined Renotalk and chanced upon his blog. After seeing what a good deal Native02 got, Bobo decided to get Uncle Soon's contact and talked to Uncle Soon.

Uncle Soon was very efficient that day. Bobo faxed him her list of items and her floorplan and he took a look, immediately drew up a picture of her kitchen and faxed it back to her. After which, when Bobo called him to confirm, he did the first draft of her quotation that very night and faxed it to her. After some negotiations and viewing of his works, Bobo and family signed up with him. It's not easy to get all 4 people to agree on a person but Uncle Soon is really one of the more sincere and reliable people they met in their search for the right person.

During the renovation, it's true that Uncle Soon was very busy, missing some of Bobo's calls and subjected her to his "rubber timing" (appearing whenever he wanted and not at the appointed time.) But after some observation, Bobo realised that it's really inevitable for someone who is managing so many houses. Sometimes workers create some trouble or are simply clueless and he had to rush down to scold/rectify situations. But he always managed to save the day.

Honestly, who would want to engage a person who is constantly free to contact you and have nothing else to do? Would you want someone who had no business?

Rectifications were never charged.. and even when the mistake stemmed from Bobo's own poor design, he corrected them for her at no cost. He also gave many freebies along the way and Bobo suspects she saved at least 4-5k on all these freebies. His experience gave him an advantage and he gave us practical advice on design, etc. His workers listened to Bobo and dad when they gave instructions different from the ones Uncle Soon was giving. They understood that the owners are the real bosses in this case. Bobo's heard of workers who are defiant towards owners and don't even give their own IDs some face.

So Bobo is really lucky to have gotten to know Uncle Soon. And she recommended more people to him. (about 100++)
