Today - A First

As some of you would know... J came back this May to run the Sundown Marathon... Yup he ran all 84km. And when I was there... I was so inspired ....

I WANT TO RUN TOO!

Now you may not think that it's anything special... RUN RUN LOR! Shout so loud for what?!

But let me tell you this...

I have NEVER taken the NAPFA test before.
Nope not even in Pri Sch.

I have not swam a single lap since I was 10.
Nope not even in Sec 1 compulsory swimming programme.

I have not ran for any distance
further than the main entrance to the first aisle of Mango during a sale
in the last 10 years.
(Yes that means I do not run for buses)

I have not done a single pushup since Secondary 3.
The last one I did was for NPCC.
(Yes I was in NPCC)

I can hardly lift any weights
and have trouble with the lightest bowling ball.
So I don't bowl.

The last time I took my heartbeat/min...
it was 94 beats AT REST.

The only exercise I've done in the last 5 years
would be finger exercise.

BUT YES. I'M GOING TO TRAIN.

I thought of Karen and the look of accomplishment she had when she came in from her race.

I can do it too. (despite the fact that she's a lot fitter la)

That day... immediately... I thought to myself.... I shall try some pushups.

I got down on my knees..

LADIES STYLE LA.

Stretched out my arms...

Took a deep breath...

One..

Two..

Three..

Four...

Five...
(urghh)

Six...

Seven...

Eight...

Nine...

Ten...

ENOUGHHHHHHHHH

I rested for a while...
A while...
Some more while...

And I did another 2 sets.
of 10.

The next day, my arms ached so much I couldn't stretch them properly.

DAMMIT.
